Draft Scouting Report
Antwaun Powell-Ryland is a compact, polished EDGE with above-average athleticism but limited length. He has plus burst and serious closing speed, maintaining acceleration through his rush. He’s a skilled technician with a deep pass-rush arsenal, including counters and an effective spin move. Speed-to-power conversion is outstanding, making him a problem in one-on-one matchups. He works well as a stand-up blitzer and can threaten inside but is unlikely to reduce down in the NFL. Lacks ideal size to hold up against the run and won’t win many battles purely on length. Overall, he is a stocky, flexible and highly refined pass-rusher built to disrupt the pocket.
- 2024: Dudley Award (top Virginia player in college football)
- 2024: Third-team All-American (AP) and first-team All-ACC after ranking third in FBS with 16.0 sacks and sixth with 19.0 tackles for loss
- Polished pass-rush move arsenal
- Speed-to-power conversion is fantastic
- Closing speed will turn pressures to sacks often
- Limited length
- Doesn't provide as much impact against the run
- Height hurts his ability to bat passes
- 40-yard dash: 4.69 seconds
- Vertical jump: 36-5 inches
- Broad jump: 10 feet, 4 inches

Eagles' Antwaun Powell-Ryland: Joins Philly's front seven
The Eagles selected Powell-Ryland in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 209th overall.
Powell-Ryland started out at Florida before transferring to Virginia Tech and developing into a force off the edge. He had 16.0 sacks as a fifth-year senior in 2024. Powell-Ryland tested well at the combine, too, clocking a 4.69 40-yard dash and turning in a 36.5-inch vertical. He's undersized for an NFL edge (6-foot-2, 258 with 31.25-inch arms), which may explain his fall to the sixth round. That said, he has natural pass-rush ability and is an interesting addition to Philadelphia's collection of guys who can get after the quarterback.
