Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Beginning on bench Saturday
Anthony isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's clash against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Anthony hasn't yet been able to get going with the bat since getting called up Monday, as he's logged just one hit (a double) across 17 plate appearances. The rookie outfielder does have three RBI and a promising 2:4 BB:K, so he hasn't been as overwhelmed as the .067 batting average may imply. With Anthony taking a seat Saturday, Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Rob Refsnyder are Boston's starting outfielders from left to right.

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Starts against southpaw
Anthony is in the lineup for Friday's game against left-hander Ryan Yarbrough and the Yankees, batting fifth and playing right field, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Anthony was pulled for a pinch hitter against lefty Ian Seymour in his major-league debut Monday, raising fears that he could be stuck in a platoon role. For now, that doesn't seem to be the case, as he's in the lineup for his first opportunity to start against a southpaw since his promotion. The Red Sox are set to face two more lefties (Carlos Rodon and Max Fried) over the weekend.

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Notches first MLB hit
Anthony went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Rays.
Anthony went the other way with a pitch outside the zone, lacing a two-run double in the first inning that held up as the winning knock. The two-bagger was Anthony's first hit in the majors and gave him three RBI in his first two contests.

Anthony went 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Monday's 10-8 loss to the Rays in 11 innings.
Anthony, who is one of baseball's top prospects, was called up Monday and got the start in right field while batting fifth in his MLB debut. The 21-year-old had a relatively quiet first game, and he committed an error in the fifth inning that allowed a run to score. However, Anthony made amends to some extent in the ninth, when he notched an RBI on a groundout to contribute to a Red Sox rally that sent the contest to extra frames. Anthony is expected to get consistent playing time in right field in the absence of Wilyer Abreu, who landed on the injured list Monday due to an oblique strain.

The Red Sox selected Anthony's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Monday.
Anthony will start in right field and bat fifth Monday against the Rays in what will be his major-league debut. The top prospect finally earned his long-awaited promotion after slashing a robust .288/.423/.491 with 10 home runs and a 56:51 K:BB over 58 games this season with Worcester. Anthony will see most of his playing time in right field while Wilyer Abreu (oblique) is on the shelf.

The Red Sox are slated to promote Anthony from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Monday's game against the Rays, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The Red Sox have already released a lineup for Monday that doesn't include Anthony, but Rosenthal says Anthony is slated to bat fifth after he's officially added to the roster. Arguably the top prospect in all of baseball, Anthony has slashed .288/.423/.491 with 10 home runs and a 56:51 K:BB over 58 games this season with Worcester. Wilyer Abreu appears headed to the 10-day injured list with an unspecified injury to clear a spot on the active roster for Anthony.

Anthony went 1-for-4 with a grand slam, a walk and an additional run scored for Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.
Anthony delivered a message that he's ready for the major leagues in the eighth inning, when he swatted a 497-foot grand slam that left his bat at a velocity of 115.6 miles per hour. The 21-year-old outfielder doesn't much left to prove at Triple-A, and the Red Sox's disjointed performance this season suggests they could use him sooner rather than later.

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: More walks than Ks in May
Anthony is slashing .354/.485/.494 with two home runs, one steal, a 20.8 percent walk rate and a 19.8 percent strikeout rate in 22 games this month for Triple-A Worcester.
He hit for a bit more power in April (five homers in 23 games), but Anthony's approach and control of the zone has gone from good to great as the season has progressed. It's unclear when Boston will start his clock, but Anthony has been ready for a while.
