  • Orioles' Leody Taveras: Taking seat for series finale

Taveras is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

The switch-hitting Taveras has fared better against right-handed pitching (87 wRC+) than lefties (75 wRC+) over his seven-year big-league career, so he'll be given a breather for the series finale while Arizona sends southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the hill. Blaze Alexander will enter the lineup in center field in place of Taveras, who had started each of the last five games while going 6-for-18 with two doubles, two walks, four RBI and three runs.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Idle against southpaw

Cowser is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

With the Orioles facing a left-handed starter (Eduardo Rodriguez) for the first time this season, manager Craig Albernaz will counter the Diamondbacks with a lineup featuring eight right-handed bats. Along with Cowser, fellow left-handed hitters Dylan Beavers and Samuel Basallo will hit the bench for the series finale, paving the way for Sam Huff, Johnathan Rodriguez and Weston Wilson to make their first starts with the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Getting afternoon off

Beavers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Receiving afternoon off

Basallo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Orioles are facing a left-handed starter (Eduardo Rodriguez) and are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game, so the left-handed-hitting Basallo will get a breather following a stretch of five straight starts. Sam Huff will draw the start at catcher in his Orioles debut after being called up from Triple-A Norfolk earlier Wednesday.

  • Orioles' Jayvien Sandridge: Cut from 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Sandridge for assignment Wednesday.

His spot on the 40-man roster will be absorbed by Sam Huff, who has been added as a third catcher to Baltimore's active roster. It's the third time since January that Sandridge has been designated for assignment. He's tossed 1.2 scoreless frames with a 2:3 K:BB at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Sam Huff: Contract selected by Baltimore

The Orioles selected Huff's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Huff will serve as a third catcher for the Orioles and could see some action against left-handed pitching. The 28-year-old is a career .247/.301/.430 hitter over parts of five big-league seasons and has carried a .438 OPS early on at Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Nick Raquet: Moved to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Raquet to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Raquet made two appearances for Baltimore after being acquired via trade from the Cardinals last week, yielding three runs with a 0:1 K:BB across 1.2 innings. His spot on the 26-man active roster is being filled by Sam Huff, who was called up from Triple-A to serve as the Orioles' third catcher.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Tagged with first loss of year

Rogers (2-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.2 innings as the Orioles fell 4-3 to the Diamondbacks. He struck out six.

The southpaw failed to deliver a quality start for the first time in four trips to the mound to begin the season, getting the hook after 99 pitches (61 strikes). Rogers still sports a 3.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB through 23.2 innings, and he'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

  • Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Resumes baseball activities

Kjerstad (hamstring) is running and participating in baseball activities, per MLB.com.

Kjerstad suffered a right hamstring strain during a March 19 Grapefruit League game, resulting in a stay on the injured list to open the season. The 27-year-old outfielder lacks a concrete timeline for a return to the field, though he'll likely need a minor-league rehab assignment before becoming an option to rejoin the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Rehab paused for paternity leave

Kittredge's (shoulder) minor-league rehab assignment has been halted due to paternity leave, per Jake Rill of MLB.com.

Through three outings for Triple-A Norfolk, Kittredge has given up one run on three hits and one walk while fanning five over 2.2 innings. The right-hander is likely to continue his assignment once he's ready to get back on the mound, so his season debut with the Orioles may not come until late April at this point.

  • Orioles' Coby Mayo: Sitting again Tuesday

Mayo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.

It's the second straight day on the bench for Mayo, who has struggled through his first 12 games of 2026 with a .158/.273/.184 slash line and 29.5 percent strikeout rate in 44 plate appearances. Blaze Alexander is picking up another start at third base Tuesday for Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Keegan Akin: Cleared for rehab games

Akin (groin) will begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Akin has been shelved all season with a left groin strain but has been cleared to try things out in game action. The lefty suffered the injury late in spring training and doesn't need to rebuild much stamina as a reliever, so Akin could require only a couple rehab appearances if he looks and feels good.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Pulled off rehab with soreness

Holliday (hand) has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to mild right wrist soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

It's the same hand Holliday had surgery on back in mid-February to remove the fractured hook of the hamate bone. Holliday is slashing only .167/.239/.214 with a 3:12 BB:K over his first 11 rehab contests, so it's not terribly surprising that he's not feeling 100 percent. The Orioles don't seem to believe it's a significant setback, however, as they anticipate Holliday resuming his rehab assignment in a few days.

  • Orioles' Jeremiah Jackson: Posts first career multi-homer game

Jackson went 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Jackson established a career high in RBI on Monday, also turning his first career multi-homer performance. The expectation is that Jackson Holliday (hand) won't be activated from the 10-day injured list this week, likely extending Jackson's runway as Baltimore's top second baseman for the time being. Through 44 at-bats, Jackson is batting .318 with four extra-base hits, 11 RBI and four runs scored.

  • Orioles' Ryan Helsley: Locks down fifth save

Helsley picked up the save Monday against the Diamondbacks, throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out two.

Helsley didn't face much opposition Monday, firing eight of his 12 offerings for strikes. The hard-throwing right-hander is off to a promising start in his Orioles tenure overall, successfully converting each of his first five save chances while posting a 2.84 ERA. That said, Helsley does have a concerning 1.74 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB over 6.1 innings, so he hasn't necessarily been a lights-out closer.
