Tigers' Kenley Jansen: Joins Tigers on one-year deal
Jansen signed a one-year, $11 million contract with the Tigers on Saturday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Jansen's new deal also includes a club option for the 2027 season, per Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. The 38-year-old has yet to show signs of slowing down, as he finished the 2025 campaign with a 2.59 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 59 innings while collecting 29 saves with the Angels. Now set to spend his 17th MLB season in Detroit, the right-hander will likely begin 2026 as the team's closer, moving Will Vest and Kyle Finnegan into setup roles.

The Blue Jays traded Simon to the Tigers on Friday in exchange for Chase Lee, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Simon rose from Single-A to Double-A over the course of the 2025 season, finishing the year with a 3.42 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 71 total innings. Now in the Tigers' farm system, the 24-year-old southpaw will likely begin the 2026 campaign at Double-A Erie.

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Cleared for all baseball activities
Torres (groin) has been cleared to participate in all baseball activities, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Torres underwent sports hernia surgery in October, an injury that he played through over the final month of the regular season and into the playoffs. He is now fully recovered from the operation and can proceed with his normal offseason training. Torres will return as the Tigers' everyday second baseman in 2026 after accepting the team's one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer.

Tigers' Reese Olson: Beginning throwing progression
Olson (shoulder) was scheduled to begin a throwing progression this week, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Olson missed the final two month of the regular season and the playoffs with a right shoulder strain, but he is expected to be ready to go for the start of spring training. The right-hander has dealt with injury issues but has been effective when on the bump, boasting a career 3.60 ERA and 269:91 K:BB over 284.2 regular-season innings since 2023.

Tigers' Cole Waites: Joins Tigers
Waites signed a minor-league deal with the Tigers, which includes an invitation to spring training, on Thursday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Waites has spent his entire pro career in the Giants' organization, and he briefly reached the majors in both 2022 and 2023. He's likely to remain organizational depth with Detroit, but he will have the chance to earn a roster spot during spring training.

Tigers' Kyle Finnegan: Staying in Detroit
Finnegan signed a two-year, $19 million contract with the Tigers on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
After turning in a 4.38 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 39 innings with the Nationals, Finnegan became dominant on the mound once he moved from Washington to Detroit at the trade deadline, posting a 1.50 ERA and 0.72 WHIP with a 23:4 K:BB in 18 regular-season innings with the Tigers. He'll now officially stay put in the Motor City for the 2026 campaign and figures to remain in the mix for saves along with Will Vest.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Aiming to be ready by September
Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that the team is hopeful Jobe (elbow) will be ready to pitch in games by September, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Jobe underwent Tommy John surgery in June. Prepping for game action late in the 2026 regular season is a reasonable goal, but it's likely Jobe will not be a significant contributor to the Tigers again until 2027.

Tigers' Drew Anderson: Back in MLB
Anderson signed a one-year contract with the Tigers on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Anderson previously signed a minor-league deal with Detroit ahead of the 2024 campaign, but he left the organization midseason to pitch in Korea. The 31-year-old righty most recently turned in a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 171.2 innings in the KBO -- good enough for the Tigers to bump their offer up to a major-league contract. Anderson converted to a starter during his time overseas, and he is expected to compete for a spot in Detroit's rotation during spring training.

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Avoids arbitration with Detroit
The Tigers and Rogers avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.05 million contract Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Rogers was leap-frogged by Dillon Dingler in the Tigers' catcher pecking order in 2025, but the team still values the former enough to retain him as Dingler's backup. A career .200/.270/.386 hitter over parts of five seasons, Rogers had been eligible for salary arbitration for the final time.

Tigers' Beau Brieske: Settles with Detroit
The Tigers and Brieske (forearm) avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.1575 million contract Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
It was a forgettable 2025 season for Brieske, as he held a 6.55 ERA over 22 appearances with the big club and ended the year with a right forearm strain. It's not clear what his current health status is, but if his pitching arm is sound, Brieske will attempt to pitch his way back into the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen.

Tigers' Tanner Rainey: Designated for assignment
Rainey was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Rainey's relevance in the fantasy world was fleeting, as he quickly fell off the map after the 2020 season. He has bounced from Washington to Pittsburgh to Detroit in recent years while mostly struggling on the mound. He pitched to an ugly 11.17 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 9.2 major-league innings in 2025.

Tigers' Tyler Mattison: Removed from 40-man roster
The Tigers designated Mattison for assignment Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Mattison was added to the 40-man roster last November, but he finds himself on the other side of Rule 5 cutdown day this time around. The right-hander has yet to make his major-league debut. He pitched mostly between Double-A and Triple-A this past season after recovering from right UCL reconstruction surgery.
