Mets' Brandon Waddell: Battling shoulder issue
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Waddell is dealing with shoulder discomfort and won't pitch in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins as planned, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
The severity of the shoulder issue isn't fully known, but Waddell will likely be shut down for at least a few days with the hope that the discomfort subsides. Waddell resurfaced in the majors for the first time since 2021 last season with the Mets, appearing in 11 games and posting a 3.45 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB in 31.1 innings. Waddell no longer occupies a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster and is expected to open the season as a swingman at Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets' Kodai Senga: Shows off velocity Saturday
Senga gave up two runs on three hits over 2.2 innings during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals. He struck out two without walking a batter.
The two runs came on solo shots, one by top prospect Joshua Baez, but Senga was consistently topping 97 mph with his fastball and hit 98.9 mph on a four-seamer to Alec Burleson. That's a huge improvement on 2025, when he averaged just 94.7 mph with the pitch. The 33-year-old right-hander credited some mechanical tweaks for the improved velocity, per Chuck King of MLB.com. "My body is different from where it was three years ago now, so I'm not really trying to get back to that," Senga said after Saturday's start. "It's a new me, and I'm trying to find new mechanics." If Senga's new-found life on his fastball holds into the regular season, he could return to the level of performance he showed in his first MLB season in 2023, when he posted a 2.98 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 202:77 K:BB in 166.1 innings.

Mets' Robert Stock: Slated for TOS surgery
Stock (shoulder) said Sunday that he'll require surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome and could be sidelined for the remainder of the season, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Stock is leaving the door open to pitch late in the season, but since he had been attending Mets camp on a minor-league deal, he's unlikely to surface in the majors at any point in 2026. The right-hander first experienced discomfort in his shoulder following his start Tuesday for Team Israel in an exhibition game against the Marlins.

Mets' Dylan Ross: Sent to minors
The Mets optioned Ross to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
Ross ascended through the Mets' farm system quickly last season, posting a 2.21 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 53 innings during his journey from High-A to Triple-A. The 25-year-old righty will officially report back to Syracuse to begin the new season, but he may not be far away from making his MLB debut.

Mets' Robert Stock: Dealing with shoulder discomfort
Stock experienced shoulder discomfort while playing with Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic and will undergo testing, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Stock, entering his age-36 season, is on a minor-league contract with the Mets, and just weeks away from Opening Day, the veteran reliever began experiencing shoulder discomfort. The results of his testing should paint a clearer picture of how long he'll be sidelined, but according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Stock won't pitch for Israel for the rest of the WBC.

Mets' Brett Baty: Pops first spring homer Thursday
Baty went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
Getting the start in right field and batting fourth, Baty drove a Miles Mikolas first-pitch fastball the other way for his first homer of the spring. The 26-year-old is likely ticketed for a utility job to begin the season, but if the Mets decide that Carson Benge needs more minor-league seasoning, it could open the door for Baty to start, or at least be on the strong side of a platoon, in right field.

Mets' David Peterson: Three clean frames Wednesday
Peterson gave up one hit and two walks over three scoreless innings during Wednesday's exhibition game against Team Israel. He struck out four.
The Israeli WBC lineup doesn't have any big MLB names in it, and Peterson had little trouble navigating his three frames on 48 pitches (28 strikes). The southpaw is locked into a rotation spot for the Mets after throwing a career-high 168.2 innings in 2025, but his 4.22 ERA and 1.37 WHIP were significant downgrades from his 2024 numbers.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: Takes swings Wednesday
Lindor (hand) took swings Wednesday for the first time since undergoing hamate bone surgery, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
It's a big step in Lindor's recovery, as he tries to ensure he's ready for Opening Day. The veteran shortstop has avoided setbacks in his rehab so far, but he's still a long way from having a firm timeline for spring game action. For now, Lindor will continue his hitting progression in controlled environments.

Mets' Luis Robert: Sees back-field action Wednesday
Robert played four innings in a minor-league game Wednesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
The oft-injured outfielder is being brought along slowly this spring, but his Grapefruit League debut appears imminent. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated after Wednesday's action that Robert would play in back-field games every other day for the rest of this week, before joining the big-league lineup at some point next week. New York is hoping that a healthy Robert will be able to repeat his numbers from his final month-plus last year with the White Sox, when he slashed .293/.349/.459 over 37 games after July 1 with six homers and 11 steals in 13 attempts.

Mets' Christian Scott: Fans five in first spring action
Scott allowed two hits over 2.2 scoreless innings in Wednesday's exhibition game against Team Israel. He struck out five without walking a batter.
It was the first game action since July 2024 for the right-hander as he enters the final stages of his recovery from Tommy John surgery. Scott fired an impressive 40 of his 50 pitches for strikes after taking over from David Peterson to begin the fourth inning, and his fastball topped out at 96.8 mph. Scott will begin the season at Triple-A Syracuse barring a rash of injuries to the Mets' rotation, but he figures to be a factor for the big club some time this summer.

Mets' A.J. Minter: Slated for live BP Wednesday
Minter (lat) will throw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
It will be his first time facing hitters since he underwent left lat surgery last May. Minter hopes to pitch in at least one Grapefruit League game before camp breaks and is aiming for his season debut in late April or early May.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Moves past vertigo-like symptoms
McLean is no longer experiencing vertigo-like symptoms and is slated to throw 50-to-55 pitches in a four-inning simulated game Wednesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
As long as McLean comes out of the simulated game with no setbacks, he'll be cleared to start for Team USA against Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic on March 10. McLean struck out six over four scoreless frames in his lone Grapefruit League outing last week against the Astros.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: Could begin swinging bat soon
Lindor (hand) played catch Monday and will go through defensive drills and other baseball activities Tuesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
The Mets are hoping that Lindor will be able to swing a bat Tuesday or Wednesday as he continues to work his way back from hamate bone surgery. It likely would be dry swings initially before he gradually ramps up his progression. Lindor has a chance to be ready by Opening Day for the Mets but cannot afford any bumps in the road in his recovery.

Mets' Nolan McLean: Fighting through illness
McLean has yet to report to Team USA while he recovers from an illness, but manager Mark DeRosa said Monday that the right-hander is tentatively scheduled to start March 10 against Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, McLean had been experiencing vertigo-like symptoms, which have since subsided. McLean was able to throw a side session a couple days ago and is slated to throw on the back fields of Mets camp Wednesday, per Albanese. Assuming all goes well following that workout, McLean will join up with Team USA in Houston ahead of its first game of pool play Friday against Brazil before making a start four days later. McLean earned his spot on the USA roster after a stellar showing with the Mets following his late-season call-up from Triple-A Syracuse, going 5-1 with a 2.06 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 48 innings through his first eight big-league starts. The Mets have already named offseason pickup Freddy Peralta as their Opening Day starter, but McLean is a good bet to make his 2026 debut at some point during team's first series of the season versus the Pirates.
