Mariners' Donovan Solano: Not yet at camp
Solano has yet to report to spring camp due to visa issues, though the team hopes he will arrive by Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners' Cactus League schedule begins Friday, so Solano should still be available for Seattle's entire slate of exhibition games as long as he arrives by then. The 37-year-old slashed .286/.343/.417 with eight homers and 35 RBI across 309 regular-season plate appearances with the Padres last year, and he's expected to begin 2025 in the short side of a platoon at first base with Luke Raley.

Mariners' Luis Castillo: Throws side session Monday
Castillo (hamstring) tossed a bullpen session Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Castillo finished last season on the injured list after sustaining a Grade 2 left hamstring strain during his final start Sept. 8, but he appears to be facing no restrictions in the early stages of spring training. The Mariners will once again be looking to Castillo to serve as a workhorse at the top of the rotation after he made at least 30 starts in both of his first two full seasons in Seattle. Before he was shut down with the hamstring injury, Castillo went 11-12 and turned in a 3.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 175:47 K:BB across 175.1 innings.

Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Completes bullpen session
Kowar (elbow) threw a bullpen session Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Kowar will likely open the season on the injured list, but the right-hander looks to be nearing the finish line in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last March. He'll presumably remain limited to throwing bullpen sessions and playing catch in the early weeks of spring training, but he could be ready to face hitters in live batting practice before the end of camp. Kowar has a minor-league option remaining, so the Mariners could choose to send him to Triple-A Tacoma once he's fully recovered from surgery if the big club doesn't have a spot available for him in its bullpen.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Throwing bullpen Saturday
Brash (elbow) will throw a light bullpen session Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Saturday will mark the first time Brash has thrown off a mound since he underwent an internal brace procedure on his right elbow last May. He's not expected to be ready for regular-season action until mid-April at the earliest, but a return to mound work is still an encouraging sign.

Mariners' Troy Taylor: Cleared to throw
Taylor (lat) was cleared to resume throwing Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Taylor suffered a right lat strain in late January during his offseason throwing program, but he has already been given the green light to begin his rehab. It's unclear how quickly the Mariners will try to bring him along, but the 23-year-old reliever may be able to pitch in some Cactus League games.

Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Joins camp as NRI
Diaz agreed Wednesday with the Mariners on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Seattle removed Diaz from its 40-man roster earlier this month, and after he elected free agency upon clearing waivers, the 28-year-old will now rejoin the Mariners for the start of spring training. He'll presumably get the opportunity to compete for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen as a long reliever. The Mariners boast a talented rotation that has all five members healthy heading into spring training, but Diaz's prior big-league starting experience could put him high on the list for spot starts if injuries in the rotation stack up at any point. He made five appearances (one start) for Seattle in 2024, covering 9.2 innings and allowing five earned runs on 14 hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Mariners' Cade Marlowe: Outrighted to Triple-A
Marlowe was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday after clearing waivers.
Marlowe was DFA'd by the Mariners this past Monday in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe wasn't claimed off waivers, so he'll remain in Seattle's organization and will head to Triple-A for the start of the 2025 campaign. He spent most of the 2024 season with Tacoma, where he slashed .235/.341/.395 with 43 stolen bases, 13 home runs and 45 RBI over 411 plate appearances.

Mariners' Beau Taylor: Re-ups with Seattle
The Mariners re-signed Taylor to a minor-league contract Jan. 15.
Taylor inked a minor-league deal with the Mariners last April but never appeared in a game for Seattle or any other team in 2024. Slated to turn 35 next week, Taylor hasn't played in the majors since 2020 and will simply serve as minor-league catching depth.

Mariners' Gregory Santos: Healthy ahead of spring training
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Monday that Santos has already reported to the team's spring training complex and has been throwing bullpen sessions, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Santos made only eight appearances for Seattle in 2024 due to multiple arm issues, but he finished the season healthy and will head into spring training without limitations. The 25-year-old can be a key member of the Mariners' bullpen if he can stay on the bump, but he's a major health risk.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Aiming for April debut
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Monday that Brash (elbow) should be ready for the start of spring training and a season debut in the third week of April is the best-case scenario for the reliever, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
While everything with Brash's recovery from last May's internal brace procedure has come along swimmingly, Dipoto acknowledged the uncertainty with how the righty will respond to throwing in Cactus League games. Brash will begin the season on the injured list either way, but the hope is that the stint will be a short one. The 26-year-old boasts a career 31.9 percent strikeout rate and will be in line for high-leverage relief work once he's ready.

Mariners' Troy Taylor: Suffers lat strain
Taylor will not be ready for the start of spring training after suffering a right lat strain last week during his offseason throwing program, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Given the nature of the injury and how recent it was, it's possible Taylor's readiness for Opening Day is in question. However, more should be known about a potential timetable deeper into spring training. Taylor looked good in 21 appearances out of the Mariners' bullpen in 2024, posting a 3.72 ERA and 25:7 K:BB over 19.1 innings.

Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Removed from 40-man roster
The Mariners designated Diaz for assignment Monday.
The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Casey Legumina. Diaz, 28, has been unimpressive over parts of four big-league seasons, compiling a 4.80 ERA and 32:27 K:BB across 45 innings. He should stand a good chance of passing through waivers unclaimed.

Mariners' Casey Legumina: Shipped to Seattle
The Mariners acquired Legumina from the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Legumina had been designated for assignment and will now join a new 40-man roster. The 27-year-old reliever holds a 6.95 ERA and 18:11 K:BB across 22 innings covering parts of two seasons at the major-league level.

Mariners' Cade Marlowe: Scrubbed from 40-man roster
The Mariners designated Marlowe for assignment Monday, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Seattle needed to free up a spot on its 40-man roster for the addition of Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe, 27, has slashed .240/.330/.406 with three homers and four steals over 109 plate appearances at the major-league level over the last two seasons. He could draw some interest on waivers.

Mariners' Adam Seminaris: Given NRI deal from Seattle
The Mariners signed Seminaris to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Joe Doyle of Future Stars Series reports.
The 26-year-old southpaw spent the 2024 season at Triple-A Nashville in the Brewers organization, posting a 6.15 ERA and 73:23 K:BB over 74.2 frames. Seminaris is likely ticketed for Triple-A Tacoma to begin the 2025 campaign.
