Rangers' Jake Burger: Supplies lone run in win
Burger went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Astros.
Burger took Hunter Brown deep in the sixth inning for what would be the lone scoring play in the contest. Since returning from Triple-A Round Rock, Burger is 4-for-12 with two extra-base hits, three RBI, two walks and three strikeouts. The right-handed-hitting infielder is likely to see a strong share of playing time at first base while Josh Smith is covering for Corey Seager (hamstring) at shortstop. Burger is slashing .214/.262/.375 with four homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs scored and six doubles across 122 plate appearances.

Rangers' Shawn Armstrong: Picks up second save
Armstrong walked one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Astros.
This was a game played on narrow margins, and Armstrong got the job done after Jacob deGrom outdueled Hunter Brown over the first eight innings. This was Armstrong's second save in three days, and it appears he's the next man up while Luke Jackson (hand) and Chris Martin (elbow) are unavailable. Armstrong has done fairly well this year with a 2.89 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB across 18.2 innings, earning two saves and two holds as well as one blown save in 17 appearances. He's just a temporary closer for now, and it's likely Armstrong will resume more of a middle-relief role once the Rangers' bullpen is healthier.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Wins pitching duel
DeGrom (4-1) allowed five hits and one walk while striking out seven over eight shutout innings to earn the win over the Astros on Thursday.
DeGrom turned in a vintage performance while battling Hunter Brown in a pitching duel. A Jake Burger home run was all the support deGrom needed to secure his fourth straight win. He's allowed two runs or less in six straight starts while racking up a fantastic 40:5 K:BB across 36.1 innings in that span. For the season, deGrom is sporting a 2.29 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 53:11 K:BB across 51 innings through nine starts. He's projected for a tough road outing versus the Yankees next week.

Rangers' Cole Winn: Set for 2025 debut
Winn was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Winn has yet to allow an earned run across 23.1 innings with Round Rock this season, though that's come with a less impressive 20:11 K:BB. He'll be set for a bullpen role with the Rangers.

Rangers' Caleb Boushley: Shuttled back to minors
Boushley was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Boushley has split the season almost exactly evenly between the majors and Round Rock. He threw 2.1 shutout innings Wednesday and has allowed only one earned run across his last 8.1 frames. Cole Winn was called up in the corresponding move.

Rangers' Josh Smith: Collects two hits in return
Smith started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Rockies.
Smith returned to the lineup after missing two games with a sore lower back. He was back at shortstop, where the Rangers have a need after the club placed Corey Seager (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said it's possible Seager will need more than the 10-day minimum, so Smith should see ample opportunities as a fill-in at short.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Swats homer in win
Langford went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-3 win over Colorado.
Langford gave Texas an early lead with a two-run blast in the first inning. It was his second home run in three games and team-leading eighth through 34 contests. That's half as many as he hit during his rookie 2024 season over 134 games. He's second on the team with 18 RBI behind Adolis Garcia (24).

Rangers' Jake Burger: Knocks in two in win
Burger went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Rockies.
Burger has hit safely in all three games since his return from the minors. The three-game run pushed his average to a season-high .202.

Rangers' Patrick Corbin: Season-high nine Ks in third win
Corbin (3-2) earned the win Wednesday against the Rockies after allowing three runs on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out nine.
Corbin established a season high with nine punchouts, which also represented his most Ks in a start since 2023. Wednesday marked his second straight quality start, and the veteran left-hander also produced a strong 15 swinging strikes, notably fanning six in a row at one point. Corbin will take a quality 3.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB over 37.2 frames into a tough matchup on the road against the Yankees, who boast an .878 OPS versus left-handed pitching through their first 42 games.

Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Cracks sixth homer in win
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over Colorado.
Wednesday marked the 10th multi-hit game of the season by Garcia, who notched his sixth home run of the campaign as well. The veteran outfielder has hit in the cleanup spot in six of Texas' last seven games, but he's batting a mere .185 with two doubles and four RBI during this span. Fantasy managers should remain patient with Garcia, who entered Wednesday with an elite 15.7 percent barrel rate on the season.

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Resting Wednesday
Heim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Kyle Higashioka will draw a start behind the plate while Heim takes a seat for the second time in the series. Heim still appears to be the Rangers' preferred option behind the plate, though he'll likely be subject to more frequent rest days now that Higashioka is back in the fold after a recent stint on the injured list.

Rangers' Josh Smith: Makes return to lineup
Smith (back) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Smith had missed the Rangers' last two games while tending to a sore lower back, but the team had labeled him as day-to-day and never expressed much concern that he would require a stint on the injured list. The super-utility man had made his previous two starts at first base before his brief absence, but he'll likely see the bulk of his reps at shortstop for the foreseeable future after the Rangers placed Corey Seager (hamstring) back on the IL on Tuesday. Smith took over as the everyday leadoff man earlier this month and should continue to maintain those duties while he's gotten on base at a .389 clip through his first 36 games of the season.

Rangers' Chris Martin: MRI comes back negative
Martin said Wednesday that an MRI on his right elbow came back negative, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Martin was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rockies due to tightness in his pitching elbow, but he looks to have avoided a major injury. The reliever will play catch pregame Wednesday but is likely to be unavailable for at least a day or two.

Rangers' Corey Seager: Could be out longer than 10 days
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said it's possible Seager (hamstring) will require longer than a minimum stay on the 10-day injured list, MLB.com reports.
Seager missed just 10 days of action the first time he strained his right hamstring, but the Rangers figure to be more cautious this time around after he aggravated the injury and had to go back on the IL this week. The shortstop is eligible for activation May 21 during the second game of a six-game road trip, but a return sometime during the Rangers' May 26 to June 1 homestand seems likelier for Seager.

Rangers' Kevin Pillar: Set to begin rehab assignment
Pillar (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Wednesday.
Pillar has missed the last week of action with lower-back inflammation but is ready to test himself in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list at any point and shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before rejoining the Rangers' active roster.
