Panthers' Troy Hill: Ready to face Saints
Hill (heel) practiced in full Friday and does not have an injury designation for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Saints, Darin Gantt of the Saints' official site reports.
Hill was added to Thursday's injury report due to a heel issue, but it doesn't look like he'll be hampered at all Week 1. He's expected to start at nickel cornerback versus New Orleans, while Jaycee Horn and Michael Jackson handle perimeter cornerback snaps.

Panthers' Troy Hill: Coming back to Carolina

Hill appeared in 16 games for Carolina last season, making three starts. Now heading into his age-33 season, Hill figures to continue contributing as a key rotational piece in the Panthers' cornerback room for the 2024 season.

Panthers' Troy Hill: Leaves near end of game Sunday
Hill (concussion) missed the end of the Panthers' 33-30 loss to the Packers on Sunday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Hill sustained a concussion that kept him off the field toward the end of the fourth quarter. He'll now go through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol and will be able to play against the Jaguars in Week 17 if he's cleared by an independent neurologist. Hill finished Sunday's game with five tackles (three solo).

Panthers' Troy Hill: Season-high tackle total Sunday
Hill recorded eight tackles (three solo) and three passes defensed in Sunday's 33-10 loss versus the Cowboys.
Hill played more than 35 defensive snaps (53) for just the second time this season in Week 11, and he parlayed the expanded opportunity into his most impressive statistical game of the year, tallying more than four tackles for the first time in 2023. However, if CJ Henderson (concussion) is able to return for Week 12, Hill could see his playing time shrink again.

Panthers' Troy Hill: Expected to start
Hill is expected to start in place of Jaycee Horn (hamstring) against the Saints on Monday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Hill joined the team Aug. 20 and will now find himself in a starting role with Horn sidelined. The veteran cornerback worked with the Panthers' defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero while with the Rams, so his familiarity with the system likely will work to his benefit.

Hill will head to Carolina where he will reunite with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, with whom the 31-year-old previously worked in Los Angeles. Hill logged 67 tackles (45 solo) and an interception in 12 games a season ago and will now look to compete for playing time in the upcoming campaign.
