Jaguars' Tashaun Gipson: Returning to Jacksonville
Gipson (suspension) agreed to a one-year deal with the Jaguars on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gipson played with Jacksonville from 2016 to 2018 before bouncing between Houston, Chicago and San Francisco in subsequent seasons. The veteran safety was a starter for the 49ers last season, and he finished 2023 with 60 tackles (41 solo), one sack and one interception over 16 regular-season contests. Gipson also logged every defensive snap for San Francisco in each of the team's three playoff games. However, he was suspended by the league for six games in July due to a violation of the NFL's performance enhancing substances policy. Gipson will be able to participate in Jacksonville's exhibition contests, but he won't be eligible to play until the team's seventh regular-season game (Oct. 20 versus the Patriots) due to the suspension.

Tashaun Gipson: Suspended six games
Gipson has been suspended the first six games of the 2024 regular season for violating the NFL's performance enhancing substances policy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gipson, who remains a free agent, will likely have a more difficult time finding interest from teams around the league now that he'll be unavailable for the first six games of the season. The veteran safety spent the prior two years in San Francisco, where he started 16 regular-season contests in 2023. Now, Gipson might ultimately need to wait until his suspension has run its course before finding a new home.

Gipson finished the 2023 regular season with 60 tackles (41 solo), one sack and one interception across 16 starts with San Francisco.
Gipson maintained the starting role he earned in 2022 after beginning that season as a member of San Francisco's practice squad. The 12-year vet started 2023 as the team's free safety out of the gates, finishing with nearly identical defensive numbers to his resurgence from a year prior. Gipson (an unrestricted free agent) will now have the option to re-sign with SF or parlay his recent success into a starter's contract with another club.
