Van Roten will get an opportunity in Buffalo after he was waived by the Jets back in May. He'll compete for a starting spot at right guard with Ryan Bates, Ike Boettger and Cody Ford.

The Jets released Van Roten on Friday.
Van Roten was let go to make room for Nate Herbig, who the Jets claimed off waivers from the Eagles. Van Roten started 23 games for the Jets over the past two season, but he was benched midway through last season in favor of Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. The move frees up $3.5 million for the Jets, per Connor Hughes of The Athletic.
