The report suggests Cooke has put the knee injury that kept him sidelined for the last two weeks of 2021 behind him. He finished last season tied for second in the league in net average punt yards (45), and he'll look to provide a similar boost to a rebuilding Jaguars team in 2022.
Cooke suffered the injury Sunday against the Jets. With a minimum three-week stay on injured reserve and only two weeks left in the Jaguars' season, Cooke will not return in 2021. In a corresponding move, the Jaguars signed punter Joseph Charlton to their practice squad.

Cooke's potential absence in Week 17 against the Patriots means the Jaguars will have to find a new punter. With none on their practice squad, they'll have to go outside the organization to find a potential replacement for Cooke,
Cooke signed an extension with the Jaguars on Saturday.
Cooke was drafted in the seventh round by Jacksonville in the 2018 draft and has been solid since. He's averaged 42.9 net yards per punt -- a franchise record -- while also placing 37.3 percent of his punts inside the 20.

The Jaguars activated Cooke (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Cooke will be available to resume participating at team activities, and to handle punting duties against the Colts on Sunday.
