Bears' Travis Homer: Officially placed on IR
The Bears placed Homer (finger) on injured reserve Saturday, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Homer popped up on the Bears' injury report Thursday due to a finger injury, which was severe enough to necessitate a surgical procedure. The 2019 sixth-round pick will now be forced to miss at least four games, and the earliest he can return will be against the Commanders in Week 8. 2023 fourth-round pick Roschon Johnson, who was a healthy scratch for Week 1 against the Titans, will now serve as the Bears' No. 3 running back behind D'Andre Swift and Khalil Herbert while Homer is sidelined.

Bears' Travis Homer: Set for IR stint
Homer (finger) recently underwent surgery on his finger and is expected to be placed on injured reserve, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. He is listed as out Sunday against the Colts.
Once Homer's move to IR is made official, he will miss a minimum of four games. With the Bears on bye Week 7, the earliest Homer could return would be Week 8 against the Commanders, assuming he lands on the list Saturday. Roschon Johnson likely will spell D'Andre Swift in passing situations, with Khalil Herbert maintaining his involvement on early downs.

Bears' Travis Homer: Limited by injury
Homer (finger) was a limited participant during practice Thursday.
Homer wasn't on Wednesday's injury report, so it's not clear when or how he picked up the injury. Depending on the severity of it, the 26-year-old would likely be able to play through it; however, more clarity on his status for Sunday's game against the Colts won't likely come until Friday.

Bears' Travis Homer: Minimal usage in loss
Homer had a six-yard rush in the Bears' 19-13 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
Homer has played between 20 and 29 percent of the snaps in Chicago's first two games, though he has a total of three touches to start the season. The veteran will need to have more opportunities with the football to raise his fantasy value.

Bears' Travis Homer: Pair of rushes in victory
Homer handled two carries for 10 yards in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Titans on Sunday.
After failing to handle a single rushing attempt with the Bears in 2023, Homer was part of a three-player running back committee behind starter D'Andre Swift. Unless Homer can separate himself from Khalil Herbert and Velus Jones, it may be difficult for him to see more than a couple touches each week.

Bears' Travis Homer: Should continue special teams role
With the Bears having D'Andre Swift, Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson on the roster, Homer will likely continue to see most of his snaps on special teams.
Last year, Homer played six offensive snaps, but none of those were after Week 8. However, the veteran played at least 11 snaps on special teams in 15 of 16 games. Homer is in the last year of a contract he signed in 2023 and he should remain a core special-teamer.

Bears' Travis Homer: Will play Sunday
Homer (hamstring) is active Sunday against the Cardinals.

Bears' Travis Homer: Could play Week 16
Homer (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Homer could be trending in the right direction to play Sunday, as he's gone from opening Chicago's week of practice with a DNP to logging back-to-back limited sessions Thursday and Friday. If the 25-year-old running back is unable to go in Week 16, the Bears would have a void to fill on special teams, as that's where Homer has played 203 of his 206 total snaps this year.

The 25-year-old running back was able to log a limited practice session Thursday after recording a DNP on Wednesday. Bears' Travis Homer: Tending to hamstring injury
Homer (hamstring) did not participate at practice Wednesday.
It's not clear when he picked up the injury, but Homer's absence from Chicago's first practice of the new week puts his status for Week 16 in jeopardy. He'll likely need to practice Thursday or Friday to give himself a chance to suit up Sunday.
