Love has been tending to a high-ankle sprain that he suffered preseason Week 1, and nearly one month later, he was able to log three consecutive limited practices and set himself up for his pro debut. Ultimately, the Cardinals may not make a call on Love's status until roughly 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, which was corroborated by coach Mike LaFleur, who told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com on Friday that Love will be a game-time decision. In the end, an active Love on Sunday would share the backfield with Tyler Allgeier.

Friday's injury report will reveal his chances to suit up for Sunday's game at the Chargers, with the range of possibilities going from full clearance to getting ruled out. More than likely, the Cardinals will list Love as questionable for Week 1 action. If Love is inhibited or sidelined Sunday, Tyler Allgeier would be in line to lead Arizona's backfield, with Bam Knight on hand for most of the remaining RB reps.

Love (ankle) was listed as the No. 2 running back behind Tyler Allgeier on the Cardinals' unofficial depth chart released prior to Sunday's season opener versus the Chargers, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
The third overall pick in this April's draft, Love will eventually settle in as the unquestioned No. 1 option in the backfield, but he could be eased into action while he works his way back from the high-ankle sprain he sustained Aug. 13. Head coach Mike LaFleur said Monday that he's optimistic Love will be available Sunday, but even if the rookie manages to practice without limitations by the end of the week, he seems likely to share the load with Allgeier until he's fully up to speed.

Love was moving around at practice Monday, but LaFleur would only go as far as to say the rookie running back is "progressing" in his recovery from his mid-August ankle sprain. Even if he plays Week 1, Love is expected to cede plenty of carries and snaps to Tyler Allgeier. Love would be a risky fantasy start in redraft leagues, but he also has plenty of upside as the No. 3 overall pick with home run-hitting ability with the ball in his hands.

Cardinals' Jeremiyah Love: Continues to progress
Coach Mike LaFleur said Thursday that Love (ankle) is "progressing," Howard Balzer of Cards Wire reports.
It seems to be the only thing LaFleur is willing to say about his rookie running back's recovery at this point, as the coach has made it his daily ritual to say Love is merely progressing while offering little else in the form of insight. Love has 10 days to try and get ready for Arizona's Week 1 opener against the Chargers. He's going to need to practice in some fashion next week to have a chance to play Sunday, Sept. 13, and even then Love is still likely to split carries with Tyler Allgeier versus Los Angeles.
