Chargers' Gus Edwards: Misses another practice
Edwards (ankle) didn't practice Thursday.
Edwards also missed Wednesday's session, so he'll likely need to practice Friday in order to have a chance to play Sunday against the Broncos. If Edwards is limited or out this weekend, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal would be in line to see added complementary snaps behind top RB J.K. Dobbins.

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Misses Wednesday's practice
Edwards didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
Edwards' absence from practice comes as a surprise, considering that he wasn't known to be contending with an injury coming out of the Chargers' Week 4 loss to the Chiefs before the team went on bye for Week 5. He'll still have two more opportunities to increase his activity in practice, but if Edwards ends up missing this Sunday's game in Denver, Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal would be candidates to see complementary work behind top back J.K. Dobbins.

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Season low in snaps
Edwards carried the ball six times for 19 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Chiefs.
The burly running back played a season-low 25 percent of the snaps, which is an alarming number considering the game script was relatively favorable for Los Angeles' run-heavy approach. J.K. Dobbins didn't do a whole lot with the extra carries (14 for 32 yards), but Dobbins has proven to be a significantly more reliable target out of the backfield, which has limited Edwards' fantasy viability.

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Dramatic drop-off in carries
Edwards carried the ball three times for nine yards in the 20-10 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
It's a dramatic fall-off in touches for Edwards after he tallied 29 carries through the previous two weeks, although he averaged just 2.9 yards a carry on those looks. It's entirely possible the game plan was heavily reliant on the elusiveness and vision of J.K. Dobbins, who didn't do much with his 15 carries (44 yards), but the uneven split is something to monitor with Dobbins excelling to start the season, Sunday notwithstanding.

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Heavy workload in win
Edwards rushed 18 times for 59 yards in the Chargers' 26-3 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Edwards actually outpaced backfield mate J.K. Dobbins by one carry but was markedly less efficient than his teammate. Nevertheless, the Chargers' ability to control both of their first two games and head coach Jim Harbaugh's penchant for the ground attack have combined to afford both backs a solid amount of opportunity to open the season. Dobbins is undoubtedly the more dynamic of the two, however, so Edwards may fall into more of a true complementary role if the game script is different in a Week 3 visit to the Steelers.

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Used often in win
Edwards carried the ball 11 times for 26 yards in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders. He also caught his lone target for two yards.
Edwards led the team in carries Sunday, but it was J.K. Dobbins who stole the show by logging carries of 46 and 61 yards en route to a 135-yard day on just 10 touches. The transplanted Baltimore duo figures to split the work evenly in the majority of games, but it'll be interesting to see if Edwards continues to have the leg up on goal-line opportunities. Dobbins scored the lone rushing touchdown Sunday, but it came on a 12-yard run clearly designed to attack the outside of the defense. Perhaps more crucially for fantasy managers, the explosive back also was the designated receiving back, recording three receptions to Edwards' one.
