Falcons' Jesse Matthews: Inks deal with Atlanta
The Falcons signed Matthews to a reserve/future contract Monday, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
The San Diego State product spent the year on Atlanta's practice squad and has never appeared in an NFL game after going undrafted in 2023. Matthews will have the opportunity to be a part of the Falcons' offseason activities and attempt to earn a spot on their active roster next season.

Matthews signed with the Falcons' practice squad on Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Matthews joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2023, but he suffered a torn ACL during training camp, derailing what had been a strong showing up until that point. The San Diego State product's addition to the practice squad will continue to give him a chance to get on the team's active roster.

Matthews was waived by the Falcons on Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Matthews signed with Atlanta in July, registering 57 yards on seven catches with the team during the preseason. If the wide receiver clears waivers, it's certainly possible that he joins the Falcons' practice squad ahead of the 2024 season.

Matthews impressed the Texans after going undrafted last offseason, but he unfortunately tore his ACL and missed all of 2023. The San Diego State product has now made a full recovery from his ACL tear and has agreed to terms with Atlanta following a successful workout. Expect Matthews to compete for a depth role in the Falcons' wide receiver room as the offseason progresses.

Matthews (knee) worked out with the Texans this week, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
Matthews, who signed with Houston last spring as an undrafted free agent, spent all of the 2023 season on the injured reserve while recovering from a torn ACL. The Texans released him earlier this offseason, but his ability to work out in front of the team suggests he's healthy again and looking to sign with a team ahead of NFL training camps.
