  • Ravens' Nick Samac: Left off injury report

Samac (lower leg) wasn't on the Ravens' injury report Monday ahead of Thursday's regular-season opener against the Chiefs.

Samac has been battling a lower-leg injury over the last week or so, but it now appears that he's moved past the issue after being left off Baltimore's injury report Monday. Expect the 2024 seventh-round pick to serve as the Ravens' backup center during his rookie campaign.

  • Ravens' Nick Samac: Injury isn't serious

Samac (lower leg) participated at practice Monday.

Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that the injury Samac sustained during Baltimore's final preseason game was "an ankle sprain," though not a major one. He figures to play a depth role for the Ravens in 2024.

  • Ravens' Nick Samac: Limps off

Samac limped off the field with a possible lower leg injury during the Ravens' preseason game against the Packers on Saturday, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The center was also looked at by trainers and helped off, per Wacker. Samac is listed as the team's backup center behind Tyler Linderbaum. The Michigan State product was a seventh-round pick of the Ravens back in April.

  • Ravens' Nick Samac: Baltimore adds in seventh round

The Ravens selected Samac in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 228th overall.

Samac (6-foor-4, 307 pounds) had to start for a struggling Michigan State offensive line in his first two seasons before getting partially benched in his third year, only to regain his starting role and excel in his fourth and fifth seasons. His early career struggles give cause to suspect that Samac's late-career resurgence was largely or mostly a product of the age advantage he had at that point, but if he can keep repeating the theme of slow but steady improvement, he could have a developmental future in the NFL.
