Pheldarius Payne: Gets tryout with New England
Payne (hamstring) worked out with the Patriots on Wednesday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
The Virginia Tech product was dropped by the Texans with an injury settlement in early September due to a hamstring issue sustained the month prior. Wednesday's tryout in New England suggests that Payne has since moved past his injury, and he could potentially end up on the Patriots' practice squad if the workout goes well.

Pheldarius Payne: Reaches injury settlement
Payne (hamstring) and the Texans reached an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Payne suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. He will now have a chance to pass a physical and sign with a new team at any point during the 2024 season.

Texans' Pheldarius Payne: Reverts to injured reserve
Payne (hamstring) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
The defensive tackle is expected to reach an injury settlement with the Texans and join the team's practice squad, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Payne injured his hamstring during Saturday's preseason win over the Rams. The rookie initially signed with Houston as an undrafted free agent in April.

Pheldarius Payne: Set to be waived by Texans
Payne (hamstring) is in line to be waived/injured by Houston, but the expectation is that he'll later reach an injury settlement and join the team's practice squad once healthy, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Payne hurt his hamstring in Saturday's preseason win against the Rams. He had been on the outside looking in for a spot on the 53-man roster prior to getting hurt, but if he goes through waivers unclaimed and subsequently reaches an injury settlement, as expected, the defensive lineman will be able to get some experience on the Texans' practice squad.
