  • Bills' Dawuane Smoot: Won't play Week 1

Smoot (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Cardinals.

Smoot practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday, but he popped up on Friday's injury report with a toe injury, which appears severe enough to be sidelined for Week 1. Casey Toohill and Von Miller will be the primary backup defensive ends Sunday behind starters Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa.

  • Bills' Javon Solomon: Won't play Sunday

Solomon (oblique) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Cardinals.

The rookie from Troy will have his NFL debut put on hold, as he's missing Buffalo's Week 1 contest due to an oblique injury. With Solomon sidelined Sunday, expect Von Miller and maybe even Casey Toohill to see additional snaps as a rotational edge rusher.

  • Bills' Dawuane Smoot: Dealing with toe issue

Smoot (toe) didn't practice Friday and is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Smoot popped up on Buffalo's injury report Friday after practicing in full both Wednesday and Thursday, and it now appears his Week 1 availability is in jeopardy due to a toe issue. If Smoot is unable to go Sunday, expect Casey Toohill to see increased reps as a rotational defensive end.

  • Bills' Spencer Brown: Inks extension with Buffalo

The Bills and Brown agreed to a four-year extension Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The specifics of the 2021 third-round pick's deal have yet to be reported, but Brown is now under contract with the Bills through 2028. Brown started all 17 of Buffalo's regular-season games in 2023, and after Friday's extension, he's expected to continue anchoring the right side of the Bills' offensive line for years to come.

  • Bills' Curtis Samuel: Avoids Week 1 injury designation

Samuel (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Samuel has been dealing with turf toe, but he never seemed to be in any danger of sitting out the regular-season opener, as he was a full participant in all three of Buffalo's practices during the week. He'll make his Bills debut as part of a remade receiving corps vying for the attention of star quarterback Josh Allen. Khalil Shakir and rookie Keon Coleman also are expected to play prominent roles, with Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling on hand for depth.

  • Bills' Javon Solomon: Remains sidelined

Solomon (calf) did not practice Thursday.

Solomon suffered the injury in the Bills' second preseason game and has been sidelined since. The rookie pass rusher was expected to offer depth on the edges for Buffalo this season, but he might be spending Sunday's game against the Cardinals on the sideline.

  • Bills' Mitchell Trubisky: Resumes practicing in full

Trubisky (knee) practiced in full Thursday.

Trubisky was limited due to a knee issue Wednesday, but he's upgraded to full participation in time to play without restrictions Week 1. Barring any setbacks, Trubisky now looks fully on track to operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Josh Allen during Buffalo's regular-season opener against the Cardinals on Sunday.
