Raiders' Malcolm Koonce: Lands on IR with knee injury
The Raiders placed Koonce (knee) on injured reserve Saturday.
Koonce popped up on the injury report Thursday with a knee injury. He was ruled out for the Raiders' regular-season opener against the Chargers, and the 2021 third-round pick will now be forced to miss at least the first four games of the season. With Koonce sidelined, Janarius Robinson is set to see an increased role on the Raiders' defensive front alongside Maxx Crosby, John Jenkins and Christian Wilkins.

Raiders' Brock Bowers: Good to go for opener
Bowers (foot) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's season opener against the Chargers.
After logging limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Bowers was listed as a full participant Friday, paving the way for the 2024 first-rounder to make his NFL regular-season debut this weekend. As the coming campaign approaches, he's in line to be a key target in a Las Vegas passing offense that also features WRs Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers and fellow TE Michael Mayer, a 2023 second-rounder. Though the continued presence of Mayer is of note, Bowers should still provide fantasy utility as a rookie, with the Raiders likely to frequently employ two-TE sets.

Raiders' Decamerion Richardson: Won't play Sunday
Richardson (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of the Raiders' game against the Chargers on Sunday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
The 2024 fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State won't be making his NFL debut in Week 1, as he'll be sidelined with a hamstring issue. With Richardson missing Sunday's contest, expect Darnay Holmes to serve as the Raiders' top rotational cornerback.

Raiders' Jackson Powers-Johnson: Missing Week 1
Powers-Johnson (illness) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
The 2024 second-round pick from Oregon will have to put his NFL debut on hold, as he's missing Las Vegas' regular-season opener due to an illness. Expect Jordan Meredith to serve as the Raiders' top reserve guard in Powers-Johnson's stead.

Raiders' Malcolm Koonce: Out Sunday with knee soreness
Head coach Antonio Pierce said Koonce is out for Sunday's game against the Chargers with knee soreness, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Pierce did not expand on Koonce's injury or how it occured, but the defensive end will at least be out against Los Angeles. Janarius Robinson will likely assume the starting defensive end spot for Sunday, accompanying the front of Maxx Crosby, John Jenkins and Christian Wilkins. Koonce's next chance to see the field will be next Sunday against the Ravens.

Raiders' Malcolm Koonce: Limited with knee injury
Koonce was listed as a limited participant for Thursday's practice session due to a knee injury.
Koonce was able to participate fully during Wednesday's practice, but he now appears to be nursing a knee injury. His participation level during Friday's session will provide a better indication for his availability for Week 1 against the Chargers on Sunday. Koonce played in all 17 regular-season games for the Raiders in 2023, and he finished with 43 tackles (32 solo), including 8.0 sacks, and three forced fumbles. The 2021 third-round pick is slated to start on the Raiders' defensive line alongside Maxx Crosby, John Jenkins and Christian Wilkins.

Raiders' Brock Bowers: Still limited Thursday
Bowers (foot) remained limited in Thursday's practice.
Coach Antonio Pierce has stressed Bowers will be ready to go for Sunday's Week 1 opener against the Chargers despite the limited practice reps. The Raiders are expected to use both Bowers and second-year TE Michael Mayer in tandem this season, with Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers handling the wideout reps in an offense that likely won't use a ton of three-receiver looks.
